Are you in a relationship with your smartphone?

I have recently joined the 'Dark Force' and am now a proud owner of, yes, an iPhone. While having the 'world' at my fingers tips has made my life seem more productive, I began to wonder. Is it really?!   After AsapSCIENCE video, 5 Crazy Ways Social Media Is Changing Your Brain Right Now, I am not so sure. I've embedded the video below. Apparently, heavy social media usage triggers the same impact as a having a beer, in that it limits our decision-making capabilities and triggers the immediate pleasure-seeking side of our brain (Darn Reptilian brain!). 3 Break-Up Remedies: in order of awesomeness

From 500 Days of Summer (2009)   Yep, it has been too long since I've written a post about relationships, so boom! Let the fun begin: no judgment here. We have all been there: break-up rehab. Whether you did the breaking-up or you were the one broken-up-with, there is always that horrible period to endure where you attempt to rid yourself of the idea of what they were and what they could have been.   While I wish I could say that you should "get back on the horse" and stop moping around, well, I'm simply not going to. And with so much choice on Netflix, it is really hard to find something new and good to watch after exhausting…

Hercules (2014) – Movie Review

Hercules 2014 with Dwayne Johnson I recently saw Hercules in 3D at the IMAX theatre in a fit of sheer boredom with no expectations. I hadn’t seen any trailers for the film, but I imagined it would basically be a tool for pumping adrenaline through the veins of adolescent males. Overall, I actually enjoyed the film and found it very entertaining. (more…)

Belle (2013) – Film Review

I saw this film on a whim recently and was so glad I did. Some of you may have missed it in theaters as it is an independent film that was only available for a short time and my local indie film theater. I must say, that it is worth the trouble to catch it at your local cinema, if you have the chance. I absolutely adored this film and would pay to watch it again! (more…)

Extreme Cheapskates: Why I am amused and obsessed

I was watching Extreme Cheapskates from TLC on Netflix this weekend and literally finished all of the episodes within two days! I know, I should probably be some mega serious, literary snob, but I'm just NOT! This is not to say that I love reality TV, but some in moderation can be good. I particularly love shows that give an introspective look into the way other people live, like hoarders. This show is no exception to this as I was able to glimpse the unbelievable extremes some people go through just to save a penny! I have seen some blogs…
